VOTERS IN JACKSON, ISLAND HEIGHTS, MANCHESTER &
LONG BEACH TWP. CAN OBTAIN ABSENTEE BALLOTS FOR
MAY 13TH MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON SATURDAY AT COUNTY CLERK’S OFFICE
TOMS RIVER - - Registered voters of Long Beach Township, Island Heights, Jackson
and Manchester can obtain an absentee ballot for the May 13th Municipal
Election on Saturday, May 10th, 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon at the Ocean County Clerk’s
Election Office located in the Ocean County Courthouse, 118 Washington Street,
Room 107, Toms River.
The last day to apply for an absentee ballot through the mail was Tuesday,
May 6th. Anyone who still wishes to obtain an absentee ballot for the Municipal
Election must now apply in person at the County Clerk's Election Office. Block
stressed that voters do not need a reason to vote by Absentee Ballot, and that in New
Jersey, any voter can vote by Absentee Ballot. The deadline
for obtaining an absentee ballot in person is 3:00 P.M., Monday, May 12th. After
3:00 P.M. Monday, voters must obtain a court order from a Judge allowing them to
apply for an absentee ballot.
As of today, the County Clerk’s Office has issued a total of 778 Absentee
Ballots for the upcoming May 13th Municipal Election. 66 Absentee Ballots have been
issued in the Long Beach Municipal Election, 3 in Island Heights, 288 in Jackson and
421 in Manchester.
All voters who wish to apply in person for an absentee ballot must sign their
name as it appears in the voter registry book, and present their voter registration card to
prove they are a qualified/registered voter. For additional information on obtaining an
absentee ballot, voters may contact the County Clerk's Election Office at (732) 929-2153.
"As a convenience to the public we are pleased to offer these special additional
hours. We have found that in the past many individuals who cannot come to our office
during regular business hours (Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM) have taken
advantage of the extended hours," Block stated.
