COUNTY CLERK RELEASES 2007 RECORDING STATISTICS
Issues Annual Recap of Recording Revenue & Document Levels
Over 66,000 Documents Were Placed on Record at the Court House in 2007

TOMS RIVER - - Ocean County Clerk Carl W. Block announced today that the Ocean County Clerk’s Office collected a total of $53 million in recording revenue during 2007. The Ocean County Clerk’s Office collected $60 million in recording revenue during 2006. Of the $53 million, $16 million was sent directly to the county, and $37 million was sent to the state as part of the Realty Transfer Tax Fee. Block stated that during 2007 the Ocean County Clerk’s Office recorded 45,856 mortgages, 20,899 deeds for a total of 66,755 documents as compared to 80,409 mortgages, 34,971 deeds for a total of 115,380 documents in 2006.

“Although there was a decrease in recording levels in 2007, the Ocean County Clerk’s Office continues to be a high revenue generator for Ocean County and these dollars help the county maintain a stable tax rate,” Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari stated.
